A Fiery Searcher Beetles
This large one inch + ( 25 – 36 mm ) beetle I found wondering through my back yard. It was about the size of my first thumb joint. I don’t believe I’ve ever noticed one of these before even though I’ve come to learn that they are quit common through out most of North America. It is a hunting beetle that eats caterpillars in your yards, gardens and fields.
A Fiery Searcher Beetle ( Calosoma scrutator ) or called a “Caterpillar Hunter”
I know, they are fast scramblers: good shots!
He was quit quick 🙂
