Butterfly #54

Butterfly 054

A Large Wood Nymph of some kind, I could not figure out this ones exact name because I could not find this particular one in my books that was published in the early 90’s. I guess I’ll have to up-date some of my books. This one I found in the back field at the family farm in the Central part of NYS. On the computer the closest one is the Common Wood Nymph but I think the colors are still a little off. So if your queries and want to do some digging of your own, please let me know the out come of your search. I’ve give up on my end for now!

I’m not an expert, but i think that’s what it is. Nice though.

  2. I know from experience that these beautiful creatures rarely rest in the open long enough to be photographed. They stick to the shadowy undergrowth. Nice photo.

They do like the wood line instead of the open fields for long. Thank you for your comment, MT
