Cardinal #48

Cardinal 048

A Female Cardinal that was in my back yard that was going through the grape vines looking for probably bugs for a meal. This one looks like she’s going through a molt with her new feathers coming in.

  1. It’s quite amazing that you are able to capture these creatures in such lovely positions. She looks as though she’s posing for you! 🙂

Thanks Georgetteann 🙂 Must of it is just luck and the taking of a lot of pictures. This encounter with this Female Cardinal I think that I took something like 30 to 40 shots of her. I only put 3 images of these in my art folder that I work out of for my blog (images #46, #47 and #48). The rest of my luck is that I’m quit patient and motionless in my encounters. The bird probably don’t view me as a threat and they go on do what they do. Most of the birds in my area I’m quit familiar with, I know how to approach them and when to stop. All bird are different in they’re behaviors and being familiar to what I can get away with is helpful. Knowing your birds is a big help in photographing them. My oldest son calls me the bird whisper. “I don’t whisper, I sing” LOL. O’well, Always a pleasure to have you stop in, MT

      • Well, I still think it’s phenomenal that you are able to capture them in their natural habitat. You really must be a bird whisperer! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Thanks again georgetteann for the nice comments. May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. Me and my boy will be travelling to Cortland in New York to spend it with my sister and her family. It will be an entertaining journey with all the snow that we are getting now. Are you getting any down there? Have fun and enjoy the rest of your weekend 🙂

      • Oh no, not even close! We reached the 40’s, and you’d swear it’s 40 below! Such is the life of a southerner. I do hope you and your family have a safe trip and a blessed holiday! 🙂
