    Michael, check out the color of the legs. I believe the Baird’s have black colored legs.

  3. I think this is a Least Sandpiper. Not just from the leg color but the finely tipped, slightly droopy bill. Also the rufousy color and the feather pattern; it’s a juvenile, and a very pretty one at that. Great that you could get so close.

      Thank you Lisa, your information is very helpful. I had trouble identifying this bird in my guide book, but I was working on the assumption that it was an adult bird. I will use your information and edit the post, Michael 🙂
