Feb 10th Pileated Woodpecker #3
This is the conclusion of my February tenth outing with the pileated Woodpecker. These last shots took around 30 minutes for me to work my way within 5 meters of him. It was an enjoyable hunt for me with my prize being the top image, that is my favorite one.

Terrific job with the photos, the little guy was very patient with you.
Wonderful shots! Love that his work on the tree is visible.
Outstanding shots.
You’re correct — the top image is a gem.
I love this !!! It looks like he carved himself, *Cynthia
Love the top shot too.
The woodpeckers over your side of the world have beautiful feather colours. (for some reason, I always thought of woodpeckers being brown).
Spectacular shots of an amazing bird. I love being able to see him at work, as well as the portrait.
Those are wonderful! I, too, love that his work is visible.
Magnificent bird. Gorgeous photos!
These are fabulous shots of a beautiful bird. We do not have them in our area. Thanks, for visiting Mags Corner. I am not a photographer but I love to take pictures of wildlife, plants and my pets.
Gorgeous pictures for this beautiful bird. Thank you so much for sharing, I enjoyed it very much
I Nominate you for the The Sunshine Award

These are amazing photos of a delightful species. Really enjoyed them all.
You’ve got some amazing photography here, neighbor. I used one of your shots of the mallards in my most recent post “Two Birds” and had it linked back to here.
Thank you for liking my photography. You’re the third person that I have found through this blog that is relatively close to me. It is nice to hear from my neighbors. I did visit your blog that I’ll eventually have to spend some more time in at a later date. I love your application to the photo you have used, a very fitting, poetic, and spiritual use. Thank you, your neighbor, Michael
Beautifully captured shots. He soon tore a hole in that tree!
Thanks for the follow and likes. love the variety of bird photos!
I love the woodpecker! Your visits to my blog are much appreciated.
Lovely photo!
Outstanding Series. These are very hard to photograph. Excellent Work.
Thank u.
Outstanding photos – reward for your patience!
Stunning photos, reflective of your determination in getting so close – it takes a lot of patience (as well as not being a klutz and dropping things!). That top pic looks as though he’s looking indignantly at you – did he fly away shortly after, or did you manage to sneak off again?
At the end of this encounter, I just slowly walked away. The woodpecker stayed there and continued working on his meal.
Such a beautifully satisfying end to the encounter: you got what you wanted, and he got what he wanted.
